5 More of the Worst Questions a Farmer Can Ask You

I’ve met some lovely farmers through my blog.None more so than the Muddy Mum who has read my blog for a long time and regularly is my first port of advice for anything farm related and, to be honest children and life related.

Unfortunately she lives at the other end of the country to me so we have yet to meet in person.

I have told her that her brilliant writing skills and dry wit mean she would make a brilliant blogger but she is yet to do it. Maybe I should start a campaign.

It seems though that my Five of the Worst Questions a Farmer Can Ask You that I published last week though are just the tip of the iceberg.

The Muddy Mum replied with another five and I couldn’t not share them with you.

Here are five more daft things a farmer can ask you.

6. Can you get such and such while you’re out. The answer should always be no. If you say yes, you can bet your bottom dollar that it will take a lot of time and faff; if it’s something you know very little about, say a part, then they will ask you questions

7. Do you know where?…..

No, was I wearing it? Was I holding it? Did I have it and did I see it? Then the answer is always going to be no. Even if I did know where it was, it probably now isn’t and you’ll blame me for moving it.

8. Can you just…. again, no. Because it sounds like a really simple, short easy question that lulls you into a false sense of security that it’s going to be two minutes. You find an hour later once you’re soaking wet and cold that holding a gate, wasn’t just that…

9. Are you home for lunch? My response has now changed to why instead of yes. The answers are variable: so and so is coming can you make them a…., I’m going to be late, can you bring lunch out, we have a meeting and the use of the other questions such as can you just…

And finally 10. Did you?… did I what? Did I know I was meant to do that because the thought got stuck in your head and didn’t come out? Basically I probably did it, if I wasn’t meant to do it and I didn’t do it if I was meant to do it. I’ve made the doghouse pretty cosy now.

I can see a whole series of these coming into fruition. Dare I ask if anyone can think of any more?
