Beef Stew with Dumplings


  • Stewing steak-either whole or cut into chunks, your choice
  • 1 onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 1 tin of cream of tomato soup
  • Dumpling mix (oops/life's too short)
  • Mixed herbs


  • Preheat oven to 150 degrees.
  • Chop onion and carrot.
  • Place steak in a casserole dish with carrot and onion.
  • Crumble stock cube over the top.
  • Pour soup into dish and stir.
  • Add hot water to desired consistency.
  • Bake in the oven for 2 hours 40 minutes.
  • Place dry dumpling mixture in a bowl and add herbs (in order to pass off as your own, homemade dumplings).
  • Make up according to packet and put in casserole.
  • Continue to cook for 20 minutes without the lid.
  • Serve with mashed potato.
