Blackberry Gin Recipe

It seems like everyone loves gin these days and you literally cannot call yourself a country lady without loving it.

I am not going to lie, while I had drunk gin before I had children, I was more of a vodka girl but, a friend of mine introduced me to large bell gin glasses which I fell in love with for the look, rather than the taste of gin and a bit of a love affair began.

I love how pretty gin cocktails look with twigs of rosemary in the glasses and how refreshing it is to have ice cubes (at home) in my drinks.

Maybe I need to get out more…or not as the case may be.

You see when we went blackberry picking, I selfishly got my lovely children to pick the fruit with me so I could make some blackberry gin. Responsible parenting and all that.

So I scoured the internet for blackberry gin recipes.

I didn’t want the faff of a pan and sugar and I couldn’t be bothered sterilising in the oven.

My Dr Brown’s baby steriliser came in to sterile the Kilner jar-how clever am I?

I opted for this recipe from James Bonfield Recipes because it was the easiest one I found. You just put all of the ingredients in a jar for a month and swirl it around every so often.

So it is currently sat on one of my Welsh dressers and I pass it every time I go upstairs.

In a couple more weeks, I strain it through a muslin (a baby muslin because I have nothing else) and decant it into more Kilner jars which I am yet to buy.

I love how each day the colour is becoming more and more pf a vibrant purple.

Christmas will be a merry affair this year and in the dark winter nights, we will have a taste of late summer.

Chin chin.
