Farm Shows For Kids on YouTube

We’ve gone all high-tech at the farm and now have a television with apps on it. I know.
It was all going great with the endless (and ad-free) Netflix then I discovered YouTube which was great for the children but it resulted in the farmer realising he could watch baling videos at any time of the day or night. Great.

I suppose the beauty of YouTube is that, under supervision, the children can watch what they want when they want and we have certainly made the most of it.

They don’t watch a lot of TV but they like to keep with the farming theme when they do and, we have found some absolute crackers so I thought I would share them with you.

Farmer Ted.

Yes, the little green tractor complete with catchy songs and educational videos about life on the farm with Farmer Tom, Les and Midge the dog. We have been big fans of Farmer Ted for ages but, before our smart TV, we had to watch the same DVDs over and over again. Not any more. Tractor Ted’s own YouTube channel is updated regularly with new videos and life will never be the same again. My dad watched one with them the other day and came into me in the kitchen talking about milking sheep. We all learn something from Tractor Ted.

Blippi

I’m sure seasoned YouTube fans will already be aware of Blippi, the American Mr Tumblesque entertainer who makes learning fun for kids. He has an epic selection of videos on a wide variety of topics but he does have quite a few farm based ones with tractors, diggers, farm machinery and animals and they are a definite hit with my little posse.

Farmer Tom

Farmer Tom was a children’s programme which originally aired on TV in the early 00’s. It is a really low budget animation voiced by James Nesbitt and Liza Tarbuck. The now obsolete merchandise is worth hundreds of pounds on internet selling sites but we were lucky enough to have been given some of the toys before we even found out who Tractor Tom was. Despite the dodgy animation, the children love it and it is a sweet programme

Kids Trucks TV

If your children like all kinds of machinery, Kids Trucks TV is a British channel with the narrater Uncle Nick introducing character like Digger Pete and Builder Ted on an action packed day at Digger School. See amazing real life construction machines like excavators, diggers, dumpers, loaders, rollers, bulldozers and even a giant crusher in action. There are also videos about animals and farms and the songs are really sweet and catchy. When you have exhausted Old MacDonal has a Farm and The Farmer in the Den, this channel will give you a whole host of other farm songs to sing about.

Justin Rhodes

The Funky Farmer AKA Richard Cornock has a channel dedicated to life on their small family run dairy farm in Gloucestershire. The no-frills yet highly entertaining videos are put together by the Finky Farmer as he works on the farm throughout the year. The videos are popular with my mini farmers anyway but there are a few programmes with children on where they are driving toy tractors or helping with the cows and I always think children being able to see other children in action is popular.

Tractors, Diggers and Farming For Kids

This channel is the brainchild of Nicki Miles. It is not updated very regularly but there are plenty of videos to keep you busy. It is basically just other kids driving around on mini tractors and electric riders and is set to catchy farm songs that are written and performed by Nikki herself.

If you find any farm shows on YouTube, do let me know.
