Delivering festive fun with Farmer Christmas- A Review

When I first came across the book, Farmer Christmas, I am not going to lie, I squealed with delight.

We love Christmas here at the farm and books too so Christmas-themed books are always a winner.

All of the children love farms and tractors. I know the baby is only seven months old but he has no choice in the matter so I still include him in our mini farmer gang.

Farmer Christmas is a delightful children’s picture book with a festive, rural setting.

The children in the story ask their mum what Father Christmas looks like and how he delivers all of the presents.

It is a rhyming book which we particularly love and, when the mother describes how they would spot Santa, they go on an adventure to find them.

They stop with the aptly named, Farmer Nick who fits the bill but doesn’t have a sleigh or reindeer.

Thankfully, he has a big tractor and trailer which absolutely delighted G. He screamed ‘tractor!’ ‘Daddy’s tractor’ when he saw it.

I have written before about tractor etiquettetractor etiquette and how any farm toys or other merchandise has to match the tractor colour of choice.

While it has relaxed somewhat here since G is obsessed with all tractors, it did please me (and him) that Farmer Christmas’s tractor is red.

Written by Cathrine Baddeley and illustrated by Sophie Baugh-Jones. Catherine lives on the family farm in Devon and, with their children, animals and busy lives, it took several months for the Farmer Christmas book to be finished.

The hard work paid off though. It is set to be a firm favourite on all Christmas book shelves-not least the rural ones.

For us though, it is the familiarity of the farm which wins us over and there is the added advantage that in buying the book, you are inadvertently helping farmers in need.

RABI-the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution This is because Farmer Christmas is proud to support RABI-the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution who offer financial support to farming people in need. How lovely is that?

What are you waiting for? If you have mini-farmers or mini farm lovers, this book will be a definite hit.

It has also helped in our house because G is convinced that Father Christmas’s reindeer are actually flying goats so at least now he will think Santa comes in a tractor.
