  1. Ah yes, the afternoon nap. That was a long time ago for me, my favourite ones where when the first was a toddler and I was preggers with the next. That was lovely. But cutting into mummy’s evening wine time is just not allowed – so those naps have to go. How long until pre-school sessions kick in??? Good luck in the meantime.

  2. I mourned the passing of the afternoon nap too, though with each child it seemed to get shorter and shorter. The other thing I hated was if my youngest fell asleep in the pushchair on the way to school, he would wake up in a fowl mood and I’d end up wishing he’d never bothered falling asleep in the first place! You can get a lot more done together now, though, like going out and about and not having to be concerned about scheduling some kind of snooze.

  3. The afternoon nap was my saving grace for many years. It’s definitely a difficult time when they’re still tired and need a little nap to get through the day, but not too much or else bedtime is messed up. Hopefully, yours will work through it quickly! #sharewithme

  4. Lol! Number 1 never napped so when number 2 did I was ecstatic. He gave up just after xmas and I was very sad! Mainly for the 2 days where I work evenings as I loved a cheeky afternoon nap beforehand or the day after. But life goes on. Just a bit tireder!! #MMWBH

  5. I love this post Emma. At the moment we’re desperately clinging onto the afternoon nap. I’m not ready to give it up, but I know it’s on it’s way out.
Someday he manages fine without one and some days he’ll go and have a good couple of hours. I think by the time summer is over naps will be a thing of the past ๐Ÿ™ x

  6. I can relate we need to start cutting Buba’s nap down and out and Missy Moo’s morning nap is saying goodbye. It’s hard to say goodbye to that special Mommy time too! Isn’t it? But it’s for the best for the kiddies. We do it all for the kiddies. lol hahaha Lovely post. Thank you so much for linking up to Share With Me. #sharewithme

  7. Oh dear, that is a sad parting of a beautiful friendship! :). We still have ours at 18 months, but I guess all good things must come to an end…

  8. Ah, the end of the nap is a sad time indeed. BUT there is now a whole 2 hours or so where you can go out and do different things! I really started to get to know my son in a different way when he dropped his nap
    xx x

  9. Awww bittersweet =P

I also said goodbye to afternoon naps when my son is still so perky even when I cant keep my eyes open anymore =P

So many things that we have to let go when our child/children is growing =)

  10. We’re heading down this path . . . Chloe now has an afternoon sleep about half the week – she can manage without it for a few days not not all the time. I’ll be fighting to keep it during the summer holidays I think but I imagine I shall have to be gracious in defeat come September – that said Ben didn’t completely give up his “quiet play” as I rebranded it until he started Reception.
I can wholly recommend the “quiet play” – you still get things done and they get a bit of a rest ๐Ÿ˜‰ x

  12. GREAT post! I remember this feeling far too well. I remember how disappointed I was when the afternoon nap went – I no longer had ‘time’ during the day! Thank you for linking to PoCoLo ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  13. What an excellent post! But I feel for you, I truly do! Now even though my toddler is still in that mid-morning naptime-ville! I am dreading the day that we all part ways and wave it goodbye too!

Haha, thanks so much for linking up with #MMWBH xx

  14. I totally sympathise with you, my daughter is 21 months and heading the same way. She does still nap sometimes but it’s very random and then bedtimes are a NIGHTMARE! I miss my quiet time more than she does haha. ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. The things we can get down during the afternoon nap hey, my youngest is down to half an hour nap now and not everyday but she still needs that half an hour and so do I, it won’t be long now before it is gone for good #pocolo
