Nursery Ideas and Children’s Room Inspiration

As Baby G nears his first birthday (I know, I know) which also coincides with the New Year, I can’t help myself but look at new nursery ideas for his room.

His walls at the moment are basically bare so I am definitely on the look out and here, there can only be one theme for his bedroom-tractors and the farm.

If you are struggling for ideas for your child’s bedroom or nursery, you only have to turn to the internet for ideas.

I am thinking either wall stickers or a pained mural, possibly personalised with his name.

As babies can have a pillow after they are 12 months old, I am also searching for bedding in a co-coordinating theme and matching curtains.

Like his sister’s room, a linen basket, rug and bin would also be top of my list.

I do like the idea of keeping the main walls neutral. At the moment they are white which I like but one feature wall with rolling hills, farm animals and a big red tractor painted on it would be lovely.

Both of my children’s ceilings are painted blue and have stick on cloud stickers on them already. I like the thought of them lying in their bed or cot and dreaming of blue skies. Let’s face it, we don’t always get many of those in this country.

I have done my favourite thing when projects are in the planning stages and set up a Pinterest board where I can pin ideas and get ideas for nurseries from across the world and the web.

There are some amazing nursery ideas out there.
I am particularly interested in painting a magnetic road on one wall where little metal cars will stick. I have kept my eye out for suitable toy cars though but it seems many of them are made of plastic which just will not adhere to magnetic paint. I suppose the only other option would be to glue magnets on the bottom of the cars. I will have to have a think about that.

I am also a big lover of blackboard paint in kids rooms although I do worry that if they think they can write and draw on one wall, it may be difficult to say that they can’t write on others. I suppose when they get a bit older though it will be easier.

So there are my ideas. I think a lot more research is on the cards which I love to do.

Do you have a theme in your child’s bedroom or nursery? I would love to hear where you get your ideas from.
