Our Boy is Two

My little prince G turned two at the end of January. The transition from a baby at one to a little boy at two has been amazing to witness.

This time last year, he was crawling at an alarming rate and, whilst he was in the verge of walking, it hadn’t quite happened.

Well he walked, he climbed and he conquered.

Nothing is safe from G. If he sees something or somewhere he wants to be, he finds his way there. He has climbed over baby gates, over garden gates, got stuck in things, under things and on things.

Thankfully if his sister is with him, she will shout ‘Mummy, G is stuck again,’ to alert me. There is never a dull moment.

His boisterous side also gives way to a very gentle and loving side. He loves patting and hugging and kissing. Both animals and people.

He loves all animals, has sat on horses, rode sheep and chased chickens.

He likes seeing animals and then going finding his toy versions inside and playing with them. He makes a clip-clop noise like a horse’s hoof and gallops around the living room.

Vehicles are also right up there in his list of favourite things. Tractors are at the top of the list and he makes a bee-line if he sees Daddy on any type of farm machinery which can be frightening if Daddy hasn’t seen him. You have to have eyes in the back of your head.

His language has also come on a lot and what he can’t say, he makes up with gestures and pointing until he gets what he wants.

His non-stop movement means he has lost all of his lovely chubbiness. He is never, ever still so it is not surprising that he is so slim.

His face lights up when he sees Daddy, Nana and Grandad but nothing, and I mean nothing, compares to the love he has for his sister.

His high chair days are over so they sit next to each other at the dinner table now and he will quite often go and sit on the same chair as her and hug her as she tries to eat her dinner. Indeed it is only Boo telling him to sit down on his own chair that he listens to.

After school holidays, you can see that it is Boo that he misses.

He is very laid back most of the time. At playgroups, if he doesn’t get the toy he wants, he just moves on to something else. He doesn’t cry like other children.

I think it may stem from sharing with big sis. Although, if he wants something Boo is playing with, she will often just give it to him-I am not sure if this is her being a caring big sister or just wanting an easy life. I suppose time will tell with that one.

G has slotted into our family and I can’t ever imagine him not being here. He is funny, cheeky and bright as a button and life is never dull with our mini farmer.
