I felt I wasted the last spell of sunny weather we had. I got the slide out and the children had the odd swing. I even bought them both a pair of matching shorts-1980s style towelling ones.
The weather changed, as it always does though but I waited.
The last day or so has been lovely so I organised myself.
The sand and water tables, the wheel barrow, bike, skuttle bugs, the bubble machine were all dusted off, wiped down and installed in our newly concreted garden.
While Boo was at school, G had a lovely walk around the farm and a play in the garden before his nap.
It was after school the fun began in earnest though.
I filled the water table (I couldn’t find the sand for the sand table). I put batteries in the Gazillion Bubbles Machine (if you are on the look-out for a new bubble machine, don’t waste your money on copies-this is the king of bubble machines and I got it for £9.99 in Toys R Us at weekend).
Our Jack Russell, Rosie hates bubbles though so while it is a nice time, the bubbles end up being a noisy activity as Rose barks continuously, trying to catch the bubbles. I usually end up putting her in the kitchen.
They had a great time.
I played with them, made the dinner and sat watching them and delighted in every squeal and splash they made.
Living where we do means we live quite an outdoors life anyway but it is when the sun shines that you really appreciate it.
The sound of children laughing is beautiful and, apart from a row over the ducks in the ‘pond’ (water table), they played really nicely together.
I love the way G is so happy to have his big sister back from school. She is usually pleased to see him when she gets home-I obviously don’t tell her that he plays with all of her toys when she is away.
It is times like these where thank my lucky stars, for everything.
