Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine – a Review

Whether you’re exclusively bottle feeding or combination feeding with the breast, if there is any kind of formula going on with your baby, there is one item everyone needs.

A Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Perfect Prep machine. It is the holy grail of formula feeding.

I plan to write my breastfeeding story at a later date but, needless to say, after combination feeding and a disasterous start, baby Beb is now drinking formula and I am over the guilt.

We live in an old, three-story house and, after a caesarean, the last thing I felt like doing in the middle of the night was trekking through the house during night feeds to make bottles.

Granted, I could have bought a kettle for the nursery but Beb is not one of those babies who wakes gently and has a coo before wanting feeding. He wants his milk the moment he wakes up.

Hubster was duly sent out in the early days to procure what has become my miracle machine.

The Perfect Prep machine was on offer in Babys R Us and, after putting it together with severe baby brain (get me), we have never looked back.

After installing the filter and allowing water to go through the machine, you ensure the reservoir is topped up with water and you are ready to go.

Unlike some manufacturers who make things for use soley with their own products, the Perfect Prep machine has a moveable tray so you can use whichever brand of bottle you like.

Once you get the bottle in the right place, you move the dial to the desired ounces for your baby- from four  to 11 ounces and press the start button.

A shot of boiling water comes out and the machine beeps. At this point you add the required scoops of formula, give the mixture a mix and put it back on the tray and press the button again.

More, cooler water comes out now and then the machine beeps again when it is finished.

The whole process takes around two minutes and the milk is just the right room temperature for your baby.

I couldn’t believe how brilliant it was.

When I think back to the times when Boo lay screaming while I boiled kettles and ran bottles under taps for up to 45 minutes for every feed, I can’t believe what a difference this machine has made.

If Tommee Tippee are after suggestions for the future though, I would suggest a coffee function. I’m not going to lie, I have contemplated trying to make coffee with it. I will let you know if I suceed.

They retail at £120 but are almost always on offer for between £70 and £90. We got ours for £69.99 at Babys R Us.

*This is not a sponsored post. I am reviewing this item because I am so impressed with it.

  1. Ah the perfect prep – my absolute favourite baby item I ever owned (I was genuinely sad when I had to pack it away haha). Will definitely be using it with this baby if bf doesn’t go to plan xx

  2. Wow! This sounds amazing. I had no idea such a machine existed. We are hoping to do a bit of combination feeding with Tin Box Baby 2 and anything that makes the bottles part quicker gets my vote! #MaternityMondays
