5 Reasons I Won’t Be Sharing My Weight Loss Journey With You

It seems my Instagram and Blog feeds are awash with people grabbing 2016 by the horns and aiming to lose weight. Good for you.

I too am fighting my own battle of the bulge but I thought I would let you know the reasons I won’t be sharing it with you. Or joining a slimming class.

1.I weigh heavy. Always have, always will. My children weigh heavy. Even when I was a size 10 I still weighed a substantial amount. It’s just how I am. Even my husband doesn’t know how much I weigh. I could think of nothing worse than sharing it. It’s personal.

2.Slimming classes cost around £5 a week. Some more, some less. I get why people feel they need to go to them and I have been myself in the past but I am a firm believer that if you are determined to lose weight, you will do so with or without a slimming class. I lost the most amount of weight on my own. It is common sense-eat less, move more. I will use the £5 saved to buy the fruit and veg I will be eating.

3.I love seeing beautifully arranged photos of meals on my social media feeds. Magazine-worthy images which you know must have taken hours to create. I aim myself to produce nice photos to go with recipes on my blog.
I do not want to see what you’re having for lunch. Especially if it’s just slopped in a bowl and, my biggest pet hate-has drips of food around the rim. Please, no.

4.Little Britain has a lot to answer for. I have sat smirking in some weight loss classes just thinking about Marjorie from the Fat Fighters sketch. Once, I had a stinker of a week. I put about 4 pounds on and, in the group bit, the woman asked if I knew where I’d gone wrong. I said yes, I ate too much. She made the rest of the group give me a round of applause for knowing what went wrong. I don’t know how I didn’t burst out laughing. I never went back.

5.I have written loads of blog posts over the past few years about getting fit, losing weight. Have you ever seen a post about the 217 stones I lost? The six marathons I ran? No. I didn’t lose any weight and the most I ran was to stop the baby crawling down a step. I would rather get fit, lose weight or not, privately. I also get why people fat-shame themselves. It gives them the motivation to change and I think that is why I wrote those posts myself before. Nothing happened though.

Next time you see me, I may be thinner, I may not. If you are looking for weight loss inspiration though, you will not find it here.

Now pass me that carrot stick.

  1. Well said missus. I wholeheartedly agree with you. I’m trying to get a bit healthier. I got a Fitbit for Christmas and I’m using it to be a bit more active. I won’t be sharing endless screen shots of my stats though!
