5 Reasons Why It Is Too Early To Put Christmas Decorations Up in November

tree-in-november

This week I could hardly believe my eyes. People have actually been putting their Christmas decorations up. In mid-November.

Now before you accuse me of being a Christmas scrooge, I am the biggest fan of Christmas. Ever.

However even I think it is too early.

Here’s why.

1.Everyone does a big clean before the decorations go up. If you put them up now, there will be decoration-clad parts of your house that will not see a cloth or a duster for seven weeks. Ew.

2.You will get bored of them. As soon as Christmas is done, I am usually itching to take the decorations down. I know a lot of people who take the tree down before New Year’s Eve. Putting them up earlier may mean you are sick of them earlier.

3.Putting the tree up is magical. Especially for children. By putting it up in November, not only are you stringing out (pun intended) the excitement, you may be inadvertently be distinguishing it.

4.If you have a toddler like mine, festive-making your home up to two weeks early is just asking for trouble. He would have two extra weeks to figure out how to pull the tree over or at the very least, rid it of baubles.

5.I tend to think the magic of Christmas is spoiled anyway with the build-up starting in shops in August. Let’s keep the magic alive by keeping Christmas in December. Right where it should be.

No one wants to be the first to arrive at a party. I think I am going to wait for at least 20 other people to post the ‘it’s up’ photos on my Facebook feed before I even think of dusting off that tinsel.

Just don’t.

  1. Ha, yep! I agree with you. Ours don’t go up until well into December, probably about mid-December really although we may be persuaded to do it a little bit earlier.

  2. I agree, keeping the toddler and cat off the tree for a couple of weeks is enough for me! we usually put ours up on the second weekend in December as a family event. My mum’s birthday is the 4th december and so we celebrate that before thinking of decorations.

  3. I love Christmas but for me its my birthday at the end of November and right after decorations go up. Totally agree earlier is prolonging the magic. The most magic bit is Christmas Eve. All the lights and songs in November surely people get bored of it by December. I do start present buying so more time to organise buying but no mention of Christmas itself and they arent wrapped until well into December.

  4. I agree. I am a HUGE fan of the festivities as are all our family but nothing starts in our house until after Halloween, and that is only the cake. November I clean everywhere there will be decorations then The Tree and decs go up 1st weekend of December and the first mince pies are made. We have no small ones in our house so no issue with pulling at things.

I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your
mind prior to writing. I’ve had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my
ideas out. I truly do take pleasure in writing
however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to
be lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any
ideas or hints? Many thanks! I saw similar here: sklep internetowy and also here: sklep internetowy
