A Cure for Baby Wind

Dear clever, inventers of the world.

It is 2015. Babies have been around for millions of years. Why oh why has nobody come up with a cure for baby wind?

I’m not talking colic. That’s just natures way of giving parents the middle finger.

No, I’m talking the wind you spend the first six months of your children’s lives trying to get up.

The type where a feed can take 18 hours because the baby needs winding after every gulp. By the time it is over, you have about 7.8 minutes until the next feed-yay.

There’s over the shoulder…

….back rubbing….

…and sitting in the bouncy chair with the vibrate on. Please note, I NEVER do this last one. The photo was purely for illustrative purposes.

What do you mean the batteries have run out?

THE BATTERIES HAVE RUN OUT?

Sorry. I just need to go to the shop. Now.

Come on science-types, get your act together. Forget a cure for the common cold. Let’s get my baby’s wind up.

Now.

  1. I completely agree. I think it is because most scientists who have money to spend are men! Let’s blame the anyway! Thanks for your comment on my Erddig post.

  2. Oh the joys of trying to get that wind up! Love the photos especially the last one. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone came up with a way of making this easier 🙂

  3. God yes I kinda forgot about this, it will be coming my way again in August!! There were times when I kinda liked burping but wow does it get tiring, especially in those night feeds….can you say frustrating!!!!?

  4. Ah yes, the never ending winding. That takes all your ‘spare’ time between feeds. Especially at night.
I have NEVER used a vibrating chair, not once. Honest. I definitely haven’t stocked up on loads of batteries already for this bump. Nope, not me. 😉

  5. Ahh the joys of wind!! I used to push Sophie’s legs up to her tummy and rock her from side to side. They taught us some good techniques at baby massage too. Always rub tummy in a clockwise direction (I read somewhere to do their back in an anti clockwise direction) this is the same way their digestive system works. x

    1. Oooo that’s brilliant. I did do massage with boo but can’t remember much. Will def try that. Thank you 🙂 xx

  6. haha I love this post! The pictures fab! I was quite lucky with my girl she didn’t seem to suffer too much with wind and I usually managed to get it up. There were a few times she burped and projectile vommed over my shoulder tho!!! haha xx #maternitymondays

  7. Oh gosh, I forgot what a nightmare wind can be! My little man had milk allergies & reflux so projectile vomit was a constant battle too. I’d never have thought of using the bouncer 🙂 #MaternityMondays

  8. Did you get new batteries? Over the shoulder only ever worked for us, thank fly we’re out of that stage & my son has no problem with wind. Just like his father! #maternitymondays

  9. Ha ha I loved this – it was the bane of my life with Miss M and have it all to go through again shortly argh! Can you please report back when some genius writes back to you with a cure? 🙂 Mim @ http://www.mamamim.com #MaternityMonday

  10. Ha ha – yes oh yes. It takes so long – especially the middle of the night feed, when you just need to go back to sleep. And just as you celebrate the burp – the sick follows!!

  12. Whats up this is kind of of off topic but
I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to
manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no
coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with
experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
