A Guide To Forming An Unbreakable Bond With Your Dog

Before you get a dog, you probably imagine your life together and what it’s going to be like. If you’re like most people, then you will imagine that unbreakable bond between pet and owner, how you’ll be inseparable and be able to understand one another with just a look. However, building an unbreakable bond with your dog takes work. Below, you’ll find a few pointers you’ll need to take on board if you’re going to develop a truly unbreakable bond with your dog.

  1. Give Your Dog Undivided Attention

First: make sure you give your dog your undivided attention. If they want a cuddle or a fuss from you, they will be able to tell if you’re not fully there in the moment with them and watching TV or doing something else at the same time. Your attention is a gift, so try to stay in the moment with them as often as you can.

2. Spend Quality Time Together

Spending quality time with your dog enables you both to make unforgettable memories. You can do so many things with your canine companion – go on road trips, to the beach, even paddleboard! You could run, walk, even do shows and competitions. Make the most of this quality time and get to know one another.

3. Train Them Continuously

For your dog to be happy and understand the hierarchy of the household, you need to train them continuously. There are the basics, like sitting down and staying when you tell them to, but then you can teach them tricks and all kinds of other cool stuff. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t matter how old they are. You can teach an old dog new tricks!

4. Treat Them To The Best Food

Your dog can tell the difference when you feed them high quality food. Of course you need to feed them what your budget allows, but you need to make sure they have all of the nutrients they need to be healthy and stay active. Know which human foods are off limits (like chocolate and grapes), and which are ok in moderation. You can click here to get a better idea of what you should be looking for in your dog’s food.

5. Figure Out Your Dog’s Body Language

Your dog can tell you a lot with their body language. Figure out when they need to be left alone and when they could use a little love.

6. Pay Attention To Changes In Their Behaviour

This can happen with age; your dog could slow down, get a little more confused, and even prefer to spend more time alone. On the other hand, they could still have the personality of a puppy and love cuddles with you, but you should be prepared for these changes.

7.Know How To Be Their Pack Leader

Know how to be your dog’s pack leader to ensure a happy life for the both of you. You don’t need to scare them to get them to listen to you, you just need to establish that you are the boss early on and ensure you’re not sending conflicting messages.
