Fisher Price My First Thomas & Friends All Around Sodor-A Review

image

There comes a time in every child’s life when only one toy will do.

A train set.

I remember when I was a child, a little boy round the corner had a massive train track in the loft. I think it was actually his dad’s but it was amazing-so much so that I vividly remember braving the loft ladder to see the model village and the little train whizzing around.

Nowadays, Thomas the Tank Engine is a little more attainable and no set quite like the Fisher Price My First Thomas and Friends All Around Sodor Interactive Train Set.

The look on G’s face when he saw his first toy train set it said it all. The battery-operated, moving Thomas sat on the outside of the box and he couldn’t wait to get started.

The track was really easy to put together and unlike some other train sets, you do not need an engineering degree to put it together.

There are three destinations for Thomas to travel to and with over 50 sounds and phrases, all around Sodor offers hours of engaging entertainment.

It promotes fine motor skills as children take the train on and off the track as well as hooking the trailer onto the back of Thomas.

The motorised Thomas is so good that it works just as well off the tracks as on it and G loved chasing Thomas up and down the living room.

Designed for 18 months plus, with G being 19 months, he is the perfect age but I do think he would have probably have enjoyed the toy from as young as 12 months and big sister, Boo, 5, also enjoyed playing with the set too so it seems to transcend ages.

Even Granddad enjoyed playing.

Easy distinguishable buttons on the top of Thomas’ roof match the the different areas – Brendam Docks orTidmouth Sheds
At Brendam Docks, Thomas can load and unload cargo with Cranky the Crane while at Tidmouth Sheds, Thomas can talk with Percy, James, Gordon and Sir Topham Hat. Thomas can even roll across the Shake Shake Bridge.

All Around Sodor really brings the beloved television programme to life and, the next time it came on, G ran off to fetch his Thomas train and trailer.

Little ones can be notoriously hard to buy for but with Christmas around the corner, Around Sodor would delight and little train enthusiast.

If you are looking for something with longevity that will not be thrown to the bottom of the toy box within a few days then the Around Sodor is the answer.

Peppa Pig is no more in our house. Both children will now only eat Thomas and Friends’ yoghurts and I only have Around Sodor to thank for this.

It really is a lovely toy.

*Please excuse the state of G’s top in the photos it was a hit day and he had an ice lolly.
**We were sent the Thomas and Friends All Around Sodor for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own.
