Goodbye 2020

At this time of year on the blog, I usually have a load of posts scheduled for publication. Reviews of the year, books I have read, a year on the farm.

Since the pandemic hit in March though, I seem to have lost my mojo for everything. On the face of it, I should have had loads of time to read but there were times in those six months when I just focussed completely on the children and, by the time they were in bed, I was exhausted.

I have read the grand total of eight books. Comparing that to the 16 I read in 2019, it seems like a bit of a let down.

The good thing about getting older though is that I put less pressure on myself. Who would have thought this time last year that we would have just gone through the year that we have.

At the beginning of 2019 and 2020 I wrote posts with goals for the year ahead. While lists are my constant friend and goals can be a good thing, I feel like at the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, I am finding it hard to make any goals.

Yes there are the small things like making sure I put washing away as soon as it’s dry and other mundane tasks that will just make my life that little bit easier but I am not in the frame of mind to promise much else.

If 2020 has taught us anything, it is that we can’t always make plans and stick to them.

I am hoping my writing returns in 2021 though, Even though I have missed blogging as much as I usually did it, I couldn’t quite bring myself to do it much at all.

It was probably time, anxiety and everything in between.

Thank you so much for sticking with me. Thank you for continuing to read my blog posts and I hope I can reward you with some more content in 2021.

Happy New Year.
