Hate Housework? We Love To Hate These Ones

Everyone has things about the housework that they enjoy and things that they don’t enjoy at all. Your least favorite task to tackle in the house is someone else’s favorite, but that doesn’t mean that you want to spend all of your time doing housework. For a little fun, we’ve put together a list of household tasks that we all have to do, but these are the ones that are the most complained about.

Not all household tasks are hated, of course, but when your appliances are breaking down and your house is a tip, you have to get up and go even when you don’t want to. So, the next time you are stomping around looking for reasons why your washer isn’t spinning, thank your lucky stars that you have the option of a laundromat in the meantime! Is laundry your favorite household chore? Below, we’ve got a list of the most hated housework tasks you could ever do! Let’s take a closer look.

  • Cleaning the bathroom. Did you know that most of the staph bacteria found in the home happens to be living in the bathtub? It’s common and doesn’t usually cause any issues, but if it enters the body, you’re looking at high potential for infection. Getting in the bathroom and giving it a good scrub is a must and it should be done regularly! While you’re in the bathroom, let’s not forget the toilet. There’s no need to talk about why the toilet is one of the most important things to clean regularly: it’s a toilet. No one particularly likes to clean it but if you stay on top of it with daily bleaching and a wipe around the seat, you’re going to find it much easier to keep clean!
  • Dishwashing. The world has invented proper dishwashers, but that doesn’t mean that a lot of people still use their hands and a sponge! Dirty plates in the sink can lead to a huge build up of bacteria, and while it’s tedious to stand and clean at the sink, you should invest in a good quality dishwasher to avoid it! Bacteria build up is not fun, and the more you leave the dishes (easy to do, we know) the worse it becomes.
  • Ironing. Most people understand that if they hang clothes on the line and they use the clothes dryer, they can largely avoid having to iron clothing at all. However, when it comes to ironing there are just some clothes that can’t be avoided! Make sure that everyone in the house knows how to do it themselves, though, so it’s not always left to you to stand and iron for hours on end.
  • Laundry. Highly used, the washing machine is susceptible to breaking down. All the reasons why your washer isn’t spinning aside, doing laundry is BORING. It’s nice to have organization in your laundry room, but usually people get as far as washing and drying clothes – putting them away can take up to fifteen business days.
  • Window cleaning. Ah, there is a reason that this one is highly outsourced. Window cleaning is expensive. There is nothing worse than spending your time washing windows when you could be busy elsewhere. There are plenty of tips and tricks out there for window washing, but the best one you could ever know is that you need vinegar and newspaper! This will stop the windows from streaking!
  • Cleaning the oven. All of the oven cleaners in the world can’t stop you from having to stand there and clean the oven. These get so grimy no matter how often you clean them. Cleaning the oven should happen at least once a month and the stovetop should be cleaned every time you use it. Food is delicious but it splatters!
  • Dusting. Did you know that your lack of dusting because you hate it means that you are breathing in skin cells mixed with dust mite excrement? Yep, you’ll be dusting more often now! Dusting reduces your issues with allergies and it stops your home from looking dirty.
  • Vacuuming. It’s hot, it’s hard and if you have stairs, you have a problem. Vacuuming the whole house should be done at least once a week but with smaller clean-ups through the day as needed.

Cleaning the house is not a nice job to have, but that doesn’t mean that you have to leave it. If you don’t want to do it all yourself, hire a cleaning company to help and get them to spring clean for you once a month!
