All good tips, which I’ve found to work well too.

One other tip that I found works with Sydney (my daughter), is to let them do whatever they want, but within close proximity of you ‘working’ the garden. For me, that is things like saying she can come along and read her Kindle, have a picnic etc. She’ll do that for 10 or 15 minutes, then inevitably want to join in with whatever I’m doing. She’s then choosing to get involved, on her own terms rather than it feeling like ‘work’ or structured activity.

I’ve also given her free reign with some pots, compost and seeds too, which she’s always enjoyed. I’ve deliberately let her do it her own way, unless she asks for help – and amazingly her seeds always do incredibly well!
