Mini Knitted Bunting Pattern

Last weekend, I attended my second BlogOn conference at the Museum of Science and Industry.

Once again, I have been filled with enthusiasm for blogging but this year, I have also been filled with enthusiasm for crafting too.

One of the brands at the event was Black Sheep Wools and I am lucky as their Craft Barn is located in the next village along to where I live.

So this week I headed over there for equipment and inspiration and I came back with oodles of both.

My problem is, instead of completing a task off my Maternity Leave Bucket List and learning to crochet, I went to my safe place and knitted.

The good news for you though is I have written my first knitting pattern and I am going to share it with you.

I’m not saying it’s perfect and I imagine a more experienced knitter may have a different way of doing it but, for my first attempt, I am quite pleased.

The bunting would suit a dolls house or one of those fairy gardens which are popular at the moment.

I used: Creative Cotton Print Aran by Rico Design and 4mm needles. I just loved the colour combination in the yarn.

For the Flags.

Cast on 6 stitches and knit 1 row.

2nd row Purl.

3rd row decrease a stitch at the beginning and end of the row (4 stitches)

4th row Purl.

5th row row decrease a stitch at the beginning and end of the row (2 stitches)

6th row Purl.

7th row, decrease until you have one stitch on your needle and cast off.

Make as many of these little flags as you like. I made six for this pattern.

For the string.

Cast on 12 stitches and the pick up the top of your first flag and knit over it.

Then cast in six stitches and pick up the top of the next flag (there will essentially be six stitches between every flag.

Repeat until all flags are attached and cast on 12 stitches at the end.

Knit two rows.

Cast off.

It’s not perfect but I feel quite proud of myself actually and it’s all down to BlogOn and Black Sheep Wools.
