My non-Christmas cake 2014

I make a Christmas cake every year. It’s a boozy affair started sometimes, as early as October, and I wouldn’t recommend driving after a slice.

I didn’t make one when I was pregnant with Boo as I selfishly thought why should I if I can’t eat it myself?

I am afraid I have taken the same stance this year.

I admit I have missed alcohol this pregnancy much more than I did with Boo. I think it must be something to do with diva three-nagers driving you to drink but not long now.

There is something about Christmas that makes it almost law to partake in a festive tipple and, while I don’t regret being pregnant again at all, it would have been nice to have our new arrival due before the season rather than after. If, for no other reason than to buy ‘first Christmas’ outfits for a newborn rather than an 11 month old.

On the plus side, some of Boo’s classic festive outfits can be reused whatever the sex of #farmbaby2015.

When I was pregnant with Boo I did have a small glass of Baileys on Christmas Eve and my lovely work friends bought me a hot chocolate gift when I went on maternity leave so I think I will keep that tradition up this year.

If you were looking forward to my Christmas cake, I am going to try my hand at a non-alcoholic Yule log nearer to the time.
