My Pregnancy-Week 36

So here we are at week 36 and this week I had my last growth scan and last antenatal appointment.

I had woken up with a start the night before and thought nothing of it until I was waiting in ultrasound for the scan.

I had waddled around Costco the day before yet didn’t seem have had a problem walking that day, it was all in my ribs and then it hit me.

The little monkey had turned.

I was right.

It is now lying transverse with its head under my left ribs and its feet somewhere near my right ovary.

Oh dear. The consultant asked me about the lie of the baby over the past few weeks and, when I said it has been head up before, he referred to the baby as ‘unpredictable’ which I thought may be a sign of things to come.

So my induction date of the 27th has changed. I will be going for a pre-op on the 27th, then arrive at hospital early on the 28th for a scan. If baby is still head up, it will be a caesarean that day. If it’s turned, I will be induced.

Despite my previous post, worrying about recovery after a caesarean, I am now pragmatic about it and, as long as everything is ok and the baby comes out, I honestly don’t care any more.

The only thing I’m not happy about is the unknown. I could potentially arrive at hospital that day, not knowing what is going to happen.

I suppose this is true of any birth but I’m unsure now how much to take with me.

The other thing is, since the last scan when they said baby weighed 5lb 9, the baby has put a bit of weight on and they said it is weighing 7lb 9. I have no idea whether weights off growth scans are accurate but, if it is, the little vests I kept from Boo will not fit the new baby.

So I am I a quandary over whether to take one small vest, just incase or just take a larger size.

I know there are worse things to worry about but, it is just something else to add to my list of worries.

What will be will be I suppose.

The next week should be a nice one. We celebrate Boo’s birthday and I have my last blood pressure appointment at the Antenatal Day Unit.

Hopefully see you next week.

  1. Plan for a section – take the big pants, pack for a slightly longer stay. It doesn’t matter if you don’t need it. Take both sizes of vests – again it makes no odds if they aren’t used. Xx

    1. Thanks Colette. I will. I am sure I would feel it turn at this stage so if it doesn’t, I suppose my question is answered 🙂

  2. This is so exciting though that in at most 2 weeks you will have a new baby no matter how they are born!! I am really excited to see a picture of this new baby 🙂 😀 Can’t wait for your announcement!
