My Boy is 1
I am a few days late writing this.
The last 12 months have flown by.
Baby G has been with us for a whole year. Twelve months, 365 days.
I wrote on Facebook that he has lit up our lives and he really has.
From such a tiny little baby, he has blossomed into a funny, laid back, chunky little man who captures the heart of anyone he flashes that cheeky grin at.
People say time with your second baby flies by and they are not wrong.
I think first birthdays always promote reflection. What were you doing this time last year, thinking back to the birth.
Even Hubster got nostalgic.
It has been a big year for us all. Boo has adapted to being a big sister and Hubster and I have become parents to two.
It has been amazing.
I cried a few times the night before his birthday and in the morning. I am not sure why.
Mostly because of the realisation that he is officially not a baby any more but like any mother, I think he will always be my baby, they both will.
We had a very tough first year with Boo and I think the tears may also have been a bit of relief that G has been ok which then makes me feel a bit guilty.
The newness of parenting with your first baby can leave you bewildered and frightened. Will you ever sleep again?
I have been much more relaxed second time around. Yes I have still been tired but I knew the night feeds don’t last forever and I have squeezed him that bit tighter because I know only too well that he won’t fit on my shoulder forever for winding.
There are also times that I still can’t believe G is actually here-let alone one.
His first birthday ended up being happy with balloons, a family party and a cake.
This is how it should be.
What a year.

Happy Birthday G! He looks such a happy little thing. My son turned 7 a couple of weeks ago and I sobbed and sobbed the night before I can’t believe he’s grown up so fast, glad to know that I’m not alone in feeling emotional about these things!
Wow that year seems to have by so quick, I still remember reading your pregnancy posts ! I hope he had a wonderful birthday, he looks like such a happy little thing xx

Happy birthday little man! I got pretty emotional when my little boy turned one last year too. I love this post, what a lovely little boy you’ve got :-). It also made me quite excited about having number two this year, it’s going to be so different second time around xx

Oh lovely! I think the first birthday is emotional – it marks the end of babyhood really, and the move into toddler-dom. It looks like you all had a great time though.
