Siblings, May 2020

Thinking over the last month, I think there is one phrase which keeps coming to my mind and that is thick as thieves.

My three have really enjoyed spending time together. I know they have no choice but it still makes me all warm inside that they actually like each other.

Obviously there are arguments and fights-they are siblings after all but, they help each other and comfort themselves too. If one falls over, at least one sibling will rush over to see if they are okay.

My daughter is not as adventurous as her brothers but this time at home together has seen the boys really push her out of her comfort zone and clamber over obstacles as well as they do. They hold her hand when she wants them to and it is lovely to see.

In terms of activities, we tend to do school work in a morning and then play in the afternoon. I am fully aware that many of the things they play with means they are learning anyway.

We got another puppy so the three dogs have been walked each day and we have enjoyed exploring different parts of the farm-for which I am eternally grateful for because we are still in our little protective bubble.

The hens are the most tame they have ever been thanks to quite a lot of attention. We have baked, sheared some sheep and had picnics.

My dad sent the children a gardening set each and the veg patch has been a brilliant outdoor classroom as we have learnt about earthworms, roots and seed germination. It has also been the site of much playing in dirt and digging.

We are missing family and friends still but we are just continuing to try and stay safe and stay at home.

I wonder what we will learn in the next month?
