Winter Wonderland Manchester-Review
We have been invited to the press night of Winter Wonderland for a couple of years but I’m a bit of a stickler with bedtime routines and I thought Boo was too young to be up so late.
This year though, I decided she was old enough and Baby G was young enough so off we trooped on Friday night.
It is billed as the UK’s largest indoor fairground and I really had no idea what to expect.
We were greeted at the entrance by a compare and, as the fake snow fell, we went in.
It looked like a fairground, sounded like a fairground and, with the delicious smelling foods available, it even smelled like a fairground.
There were stalls with fair games to play like hook-a-duck (we won a lovely Winter Wonderland teddy there).
There was so much to see, we struggled to take it all in at first.
Boo was amazed.
The carousels went round with lovely fairground music.
You can get your photo taken on a sleigh, meet Father Christmas, ride the rides-it really is a Christmassy experience.
Winter Wonderland is operated on a session basis to ensure visitors can enjoy the experience without overcrowding. Tickets to this event are limited and we strongly advise that tickets are booked early to avoid disappointment.
This event is suitable for families with children under 12 years
Boo had a go on some of the fairground rides including a Disney Princess, pink train and some swings. She skipped around with such a happy look on her face.
There are also a number of shows you can see-from Disney Pricesses and the magical Van Buren Show where Andrew Van Buren and stage partner Allyson apresent their unique show at the Manchester Winter Wonderland this Christmas.
The show contains a fun and unique mix of magic, illusions, escapology, circus skills & a few surprises, with something for the entire family, all performed from their own ornate stage.
Andrew comes from a show-business family & is a gold star member of The Inner Magic Circle. He tours all around the world presenting his themed shows with Allyson who is an expert dancer, makeup artist and one of the world’s top “box jumpers”.
There is also a circus show, singers and lots, lots more.
The highlight for us was the Sooty Show. We are big fans of the little yellow fella and he is joined at Winter Wonderland by Sweep, Sue and presenter, Richard Cadell.
We were not disappointed. The show was fantastic and the sheer joy on Boo’s face to see her favourite character was definitely worth it.
The food was amazing. Hubster and I had a burger and Boo some chips but there were so many different stalls to choose from as well as candy floss and lollies-what you really would expect from the fair.
The people operating the rides were so lovely, chatting with the children and laughing at Hubsrer on the train.
I really could not fault anything about the whole experience.
Winter Wonderland is located in Event City next to the Trafford Centre. It is open now until January 3rd.
Tickets cost £19.50. There is a family ticket available for £64 and the under 3’s are free. Everything is included in the ticket-all rides, shows and attractions. You do have to obviously pay for your food though and there is a charge for some of the fairground games.
*We were invited to the press night for the purpose of this review but we really did have an amazing time and all opinions are my own.
