Book Review-Country Girl at Heart by Lorna Sixsmith
Country Girl at Heart by Lorna Sixsmith is a joyous and wholesome romantic comedy set un rural Ireland.
Protagonist Kelly (although some would say Becky the goat is a contender), leaves London broken hearted to help out on her aunt and uncle’s family farm where she is thrown in at the deep end with animals, farming life and even driving farm machinery.
She begins dating Hugh a gentleman farmer who is more at home in a board room than a barn. He is romantic but a bit arrogant and seemed to me like a bit of a control freak.
I spent the whole book hoping she would get with neighbouring farmer, Steve who Kelly grew up with. Will true love prevail? You will have to read it yourself to find out but despite family tragedy, humour (the stuck wellies and runaway goats were my personal favourites) and personal soul searching, Country Girl at Heart did not disappoint.
Lorna has a lovely tone to her writing and I hope this won’t be the last fiction offering foo her. It is available to buy through Lorna’s website (click on her profile for details) or from Amazon where it is currently available on offer in ebook for 99p until Friday or £12.99 paperback.. Treat yourself or get it on your Christmas list, you won’t be disappointed.
