20 Weeks Pregnant With Baby Number 3

I can’t believe I’m over half way through this pregnancy. In fact, it’s taken so long to write this that I am actually 21 weeks now. Time has been flying yet I haven’t really done a pregnacy update yet.

The first 20 weeks have been challenging.

The first 14 weeks (from around week six) were lost under a wave of nausea.

Thankfully, it wasn’t as bad as some of those poor ladies with hyperemesis gravidarum but I was physically sick a number of times.

Many of you who know me in person will vouch for the fact that I have had a bit of a ‘belly’ since having my first child but I did notice my ordinary clothes were tight from around ten weeks. They do say the more pregnancies you have, the earlier you show.

Last week I had my 20 week scan and, thank goodness, everything looked okay with the baby. I am always worried ahead of scans.

I more than anyone am aware that scans are not always the happy part of pregnancy so I never sleep well the night before.

Since the clocks have gone back, both children are up at 5am so the lack of sleep that day added up to a very moody mummy.

Coupled with that, I turned up for the scan ten minutes early with an extra full bladder and had to wait for an hour to be seen. I could hardly walk into the room I needed the loo so badly and my consultant sent me to the toilet as she knew I wouldn’t be able to cope with the scanner pressing down.

She ticked off kidneys, face, stomach, head, spine, two hands and two feet.

I started to relax a little.

The heart was harder to see as my little monkey would not keep still enough to fully investigate. She said it looked okay as far as she could see but that she would scan again in three weeks.

Many women can’t wait for the 20 week scan to find out the sex of their baby but I was just so worried about something being wrong. I am not sure if that is normal but it is definitely normal for me.

The sickness has now almost subsided but there are sicky times which is similar to my last pregnancy where I was pretty much sick up until the end.

I have an anterior placenta so I am feeling movement but not as much as I would if the placenta was in a different place.

I have also noticed I am tired all the time. Even after a full nights sleep, I could quite easily go back to bed-which never happens with two others to look after.

There seem to be loads of people with new babies recently and I cannot wait for newborn cuddles but, with 17 weeks left to go, it is quite soon to be thinking about that.

I think looking at G doesn’t help as it only seems like five minutes since he was a tiny baby. They really do grow up too quickly.

I have had an appointment with my consultant and he said, as long as the baby is the right way around, I will be able to have my VBAC-especially with me having a natural birth with Boo so let’s have downward thoughts for baby number three. I wouldn’t fancy looking after three children and entering lambing next year and recovering from surgery.

I probably won’t do another update for a few weeks unless anything major happens. Although I do feel as though I’ve crammed 21 weeks of pregnancy into one post.

Here is my first bump shot this time. I have no makeup on and I’m tired but if I waited any longer, I feared I’d be 30 weeks and no bump shot.

I can’t decide if I’m any bigger than I was with G. I don’t think I am.

20 weeks

Let’s hope for an uneventful end to the second trimester.
