Donate Used Baby Clothes-From A Mother To Another

FAMTA
Stored in my house are boxes and boxes of clothes. In every size from newborn to six years. Summer, winter, waterproof, occasion wear, for boys and girls.
Lovingly washed, folded and squashed into nappy boxes. Just in case.

I have decided to sort through them and do something to help others.

The lovely maternity and baby store, Jo Jo Mamam Bébé has a new initiative
-From A Mother to Another to donate your clean baby and children’s clothes to both needy families in the UK as well as refugees in Syria and Lebanon.

While I may shed a tear at the clothes going away, the tears will be of nostalgia for my children who have grown up in a warm, dry house. They have gone to bed with full tummies and milk whenever they needed it. They have had clean nappies when they needed them and clean, warm clothes when it was cold. They have had access to medical professionals when they needed it and they are loved.

My children are lucky.

For some mothers, love is the only thing they can provide their children with.

Even here in a well-off country there are mothers, like you and me who cannot afford to buy clothes for their babies and children.

So from February 2nd to March 5th, you can take all of your good quality outgrown or unwanted baby and children’s clothes in, sizes 0-6 years, to Jo Jo Maman Bébé’s 72 stores across the UK and Ireland.

Customers are requested to make up complete outfits to give something worthwhile this mother’s day.

The emergency clothing packs will be distributed by some of the Trussell Trust’s 420 Foodbanks across the UK and by a number of partner charities on the ground in Lebanon.

Nearly a third of the UK’s clothing ends up in landfill, equating to 350,000 tonnes a year. By extending the life of clothes by just three months of active use, carbon and water waste could be reduced by up to five to ten per cent a year. Sending good quality, little worn hand-me-downs to those in need could mean they are worn by many more children.

Oh and did you think that was it? When you donate, two or more complete outfits, you will receive a £5 voucher so not only will you be helping those in need, you will be able to treat yourself or your children too.
